Storage

Storage is a critical component of my homelab, providing the foundation for data management, backups, and media services. Here you'll find the tools and technologies I use to ensure that my data is secure, accessible, and efficiently managed.

ZFS Logo

ZFS

ZFS is my primary storage solution, providing a robust and flexible filesystem that supports advanced features like snapshots, replication, and data integrity checks. With ZFS, I can create pools of storage that are resilient to failures, ensuring that my data remains safe and accessible. Its ability to handle large amounts of data efficiently makes it ideal for my homelab needs.

Proxmox Backup Server

Proxmox Backup Server is my go-to solution for backups, providing a reliable way to protect my virtual machines and containers. It integrates seamlessly with Proxmox VE, allowing me to schedule backups, manage retention policies, and restore data when needed. With Proxmox Backup Server, I can ensure that my critical data is always backed up and can be restored quickly in case of any issues. My primary Proxmox Backup Server runs in Hetzner connected to my Hetzner storage box, which is a great way to ensure that my backups are stored offsite and secure.

Hetzner Storage Box

The Hetzner Storage Box is a reliable and cost-effective solution for offsite backups. It provides a secure way to store my data in the cloud, ensuring that I have access to my backups even if my local storage fails. I primarily use this for both Proxmox Backup Server as mentioned above, as well as for backing up my NAS using Rclone. The Storage Box supports various protocols, making it easy to integrate with my existing systems. It also supports snapshots, which allows me to keep multiple versions of my backups for added security.
